A good manual directory submission is a sure-fire way to increase your low level backward links from themed or relevant pages. There are tens of thousand of free to submit to web directories on the Internet, with most of the directory scripts available being search engine friendly.

All of these tend to offer reporting in the form of excel spreadsheet, but this still doesn't allay any feeling of paranoia you may get thinking the amount of time it must take them for such a small outlay.
